Happy New Year from Farer

We hugely appreciate all your support - along with the regular feedback, comments and reviews which all help us make Farer better and better.

Last year saw us take a big step forward in our ambition to create a new type of watch brand - one that balances unique design with the highest build quality at the most affordable price points possible. The Lander GMT (pictured below) has been a great example of these three factors coming together and as a result it has been a hugely popular watch.

2017 has been the most exciting year to date, here are some of the highlights:

The GMT Automatic launch

Following the success of the Three-Hand collection last Christmas we were eager to get the GMT Automatic range to market. The ultimate traveller's watch and a flagship product for Farer, the fastest way to launch the GMT Automatics watches was to go and pick them up ourselves from Switzerland. At the beginning of May we drove a 1962 Jaguar E-Type from from our studio in Hyde Park to the factory in Tavannes, Switzerland. A 1,500 mile round trip to collect the first fifty watches and bring them back to exhibit at the London launch party.

A weekend on the water with the Aqua Compressors

In August we set out to put the new Aqua Compressors to the test, we decided that they needed to be put through their paces above and below water. First, we travelled to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight and headed out into the Solent in a beautifully restored 1969 Fairey Huntsman - we spent the day racing to the Needles and back again, with a number of other boats from the Classic Offshore Powerboat Club.

We then loaded up the Land Rover Defender and drove down to Helford, Cornwall - where we met up with some local free-divers. Jumping on board an old fishing boat named Lady Hamilton, we ventured out to sea to explore the depths of the Cornish coastline and put our new Aqua Compressors to the test beneath the surface.

To New York and back again (and again)

We are proud to say that we have seen an increasing amount of interest from the US and in particular the watch community of New York. We’ve received great reviews for both our GMT Automatic and Aqua Compressor collections from Hodinkee, Gear Patrol, Worn & Wound and A Blog To Watch (amongst others) which we hugely appreciate. We enjoyed heading out to meet with the RedBar Crew for the launch of the Aqua Compressors and exhibiting at Wind-Up NYC for the second year in a row.

Climbing Ben Nevis with Proper Adventure and Amy Shore

Paul Brett, the founder of Proper Adventure magazine, has been part of the Farer community from the very beginning. A keen Scottish mountaineer, when Paul invited us to join him to climb Ben Nevis we couldn’t refuse. Wrapping up warm, we headed north for an adventure and overnight stay on the mountain with our friend Amy Shore joining us to capture the trip.

Now it’s time to look ahead to 2018. We’ve got big plans to come with the launch of a numberof new models throughout the year. As always, we’ll keep you posted with all the news through email and on our social channels.

Thanks again for all the support and here’s to an exciting 2018.
